This policy describes how the anterBox Smart Home Alexa skill (“the Skill”) handles your information when you link it to your Amazon Alexa account and use it to control your anterBox smart-home devices.
Who runs this skill
The Skill is operated by anterBox, an entity registered in India. For privacy questions, account-deletion requests, or other inquiries, contact info@anterbox.com.
What the Skill collects
When you link your Amazon account to your anterBox account, the Skill receives and processes only what is needed to execute your voice commands:
- Your anterBox account identifier (a randomly generated user ID), so the Skill knows which devices you are entitled to control.
- Device and scene metadata from your anterBox installation — device names, room/area names, device types, and scene names — so Alexa can present them as voice-controllable endpoints.
- Voice command intents sent by Alexa — for example, “turn on the kitchen light.” The Skill receives the resolved intent (which device, what action) from Amazon; it does not receive or store the raw audio of your voice. Voice recordings remain with Amazon under the Alexa privacy policy.
- Command execution logs — timestamped records of which command was issued, against which device, for diagnostics and abuse protection. These do not include voice content.
What the Skill does NOT collect
- Voice recordings or audio of any kind.
- Your Amazon password, email, or any Amazon account details beyond the linkage token.
- Personal information unrelated to your anterBox devices (contacts, location data, calendars, etc.).
How your data is used
Collected data is used solely to:
- Execute the voice command you issued (e.g., turn a light on, activate a scene).
- Display your devices in the Alexa app for voice control.
- Provide audit logs to you and the site administrator within the anterBox application.
- Diagnose service issues when you contact support.
Your data is not sold, shared with advertisers, or used for marketing.
Where your data is stored
anterBox uses the following third-party processors:
- Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication, Cloud Functions) — stores your anterBox account profile, device list, and command queue.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS Lambda, CloudWatch) — runs the Alexa skill backend in the EU (Ireland) region and stores command execution logs.
Both processors maintain their own security certifications and privacy policies. Data may be transferred outside India to support these services; we rely on the standard contractual safeguards published by Google and Amazon.
How long data is kept
- Account & device data: retained while your anterBox account is active. To delete your account and associated data, email info@anterbox.com with the subject “Account Deletion Request”. We complete deletion within 30 days of receiving the request.
- Voice command execution logs: automatically deleted after 90 days.
- Service operational logs: automatically deleted after 90 days.
Your rights
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, and equivalent laws such as the GDPR (EEA/UK) and CCPA (California), you may:
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Unlink the Skill at any time from the Alexa app, which revokes its access immediately.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@anterbox.com. We respond within 30 days of receiving the request.
Children’s privacy
The Skill is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has linked the Skill, contact info@anterbox.com and we will remove the linkage.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Skill after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
